Hawks take game 3 to win the series vs the Great Falls Voyagers
In a matchup between the Great Falls Voyagers and the Boise Hawks, the Hawks emerged victorious with a final score of 6-3. The Hawks displayed solid performance both offensively and defensively, securing the win in front of a crowd of 4,613 at Memorial Stadium in Garden City, Idaho.
The game remained scoreless until the fourth inning when the Boise Hawks took a 2-run lead. Alex Baeza contributed to the scoring with a single that drove in Raymond Gil, while Tyler Jorgensen added another run with a single of his own, allowing Baeza to cross the plate.
The Hawks extended their lead in the sixth inning when Baeza blasted a home run to right field, bringing in two more runs. The Voyagers struggled to generate offense but managed to put runs on the board in the top of the seventh inning. Jake Malec reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Anthony Herron Jr. Langston Ginder followed up with a single to left center, advancing to second on the throw and bringing home Billy Hancock, narrowing the gap to 4-2.
Boise responded in the bottom of the eighth inning with Baeza's clutch single to left field, allowing D.J. Poteet to score. Jorgensen then hit a double down the right field line, resulting in another unearned run for the Hawks as Gil crossed home plate.
In the final inning, the Voyagers managed to score one more run when Eddie McCabe singled to right field, bringing in Malec, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Hawks' lead. The game ended with a final score of 6-3 in favor of the Boise Hawks.
Brayden Spears started on the mound for the Hawks and pitched six solid innings, allowing only two hits and two earned runs while striking out four batters. Noah McBride and Matt Gabbert also contributed with strong relief performances.
On the Voyagers' side, Casey Minchey took the loss, pitching 3.2 innings and allowing one earned run on four hits. Montana Quigley and Greg Blackman followed in relief but couldn't prevent the Hawks from adding to their lead.
With this win, the Boise Hawks improved their record to 20-16, while the Great Falls Voyagers' record dropped to 10-24.
