Range Riders take game 2 with a 12-2 victory
The Glacier Range Riders defeated the Boise Hawks with a commanding score of 12-2. The Range Riders showcased their offensive firepower and solid pitching throughout the game.
The game started off quietly, with neither team scoring in the first inning. In the top of the second inning, Christian Kirtley of the Range Riders hit a home run to right field, putting his team ahead 1-0. The Hawks responded in the bottom of the third inning when Trevor Minder scored on a passed ball, leveling the score at 1-1.
The Range Riders regained the lead in the fourth inning when Nick Lucky hit a two-run homer to right field, bringing in Kingston Liniak and making it 3-1. The Hawks managed to narrow the gap in the bottom of the fourth inning when Casey Dykstra hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing Raymond Gil to score and bringing the score to 3-2.
However, the fifth inning proved to be pivotal for the Range Riders as they exploded offensively. Gabe Howell hit a sacrifice fly to center field, bringing home Ben McConnell and extending their lead to 4-2. Jackson Raper followed with a groundout that brought in McConnell, increasing the lead to 5-2. Dean Miller then added to the Range Riders' advantage with a home run to center field, scoring another run and making it 6-2. Liniak continued the offensive onslaught with a double to right-center field, driving in Crews Taylor and widening the gap to 7-2.
The Range Riders maintained their momentum in the seventh inning. Taylor reached first base on an error by the pitcher, advanced to third base, and scored on a passed ball, extending the lead to 8-2. Liniak hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Taylor to score and making it 9-2. Kirtley then crushed a two-run homer to left field, bringing in Lucky and pushing the lead to 11-2.
In the ninth inning, Taylor scored again for the Range Riders when Lucky singled to center field, increasing the lead to 12-2.
On the pitching side, Nick Zegna had a great performance for the Range Riders, pitching seven innings and allowing only two runs. He was supported by strong relief pitching from Ryan Cloude and John Natoli, who held the Hawks scoreless in the final two innings.
The Range Riders' offense was led by Liniak, Lucky, and Kirtley, who all had impressive contributions with multiple hits and RBIs. Kirtley's two home runs and five RBIs were particularly noteworthy. The Hawks struggled to find offensive momentum against the Range Riders' pitching, managing only five hits and two runs.
With this victory, the Glacier Range Riders improved their record to 19-12, while the Boise Hawks' record fell to 18-14.
